An award-winning Newcastle-under-Lyme company which has virtually doubled its workforce during the pandemic is continuing to expand with exciting plans for the future.

TMT First based in Holditch are a UK wide authorised Samsung Repair Partner – they currently employ 120 staff with plans to recruit at least another 20 in the first half of 2022 to deliver on new contracts.

2021 saw them not only open an on-site customer facing Samsung Support Centre – but they have also moved into an extra 20,000 square foot of space at their existing headquarters, taking their overall space to 43,000 square feet, to support ambitious growth plans.

Despite the challenges of the pandemic over the last two years TMT have recruited 60 new staff including specialist repair technicians, customer services and warehouse staff and over 330,000 devices came through the doors for processing.

They have also launched a Digital Device Repair Technician Academy in partnership with Samsung to help bring in the next generation of specialist repair technicians – it’s thought to be the first of its kind in the country. So far 38 staff have completed the in-house apprenticeship across eight separate cohorts.

The Samsung Support Centre offers a drop-in service, where devices are repaired using only genuine Samsung parts. Customers from across the UK also have the option of using a free of charge trackable collect and returns service, to get their repairs done, without them having to leave their home.

Adam Whitehouse is the owner of TMT First, a company he founded in 2006.

He said: “Despite the pandemic, business has been very good for us which we are extremely grateful for. We have doubled our workforce, taken on additional space which will help house our ambitious growth plans, and launched our Technician Training Academy. Our walk-in Samsung Repair Centre also gives customers the opportunity to get their devices repaired directly with us, fixed on site using Samsung genuine parts, all within two hours, although the majority are fixed within an hour. Our aim is to encourage an additional 400 walk-in customers through the Samsung Support Centre doors each month and to process more than 20,000 repairs per month through our hi-tech facility by the end of 2023.”

Adam added: “We are not resting on our laurels though and have big plans for our continued growth this year. We have already started to reconfigure our premises now that we have the additional space and are expanding the range of devices we work with to include laptops, smart watches and game consoles.

“The teams at TMT First are also doing a lot of important work around sustainability and extending the life of the technology we work with. Our shared vision is to be the UK’s most trusted and respected company providing consumer technology lifecycle services.

“There are exciting times ahead of us at TMT First – we are on-boarding new clients to increase the number of industry leading partners that we work with, and we’re all looking forward to seeing what the next twelve months bring,” Adam added.

TMT First were named the Sentinel’s Business of the Year winner in 2021, as well as winning the Science and Technology and Business in the Community Awards.
