An award-winning Newcastle company which has doubled its workforce over the last two years is expanding again.

TMT First who’s headquarters are on Holditch Road are looking to recruit their next academy of six, to become the future generation of repair technicians.

They’ll join the next cohort of trainees to go through their Digital Device Repair Technician Academy, which was founded in Jan 2020.

Running in partnership with Samsung, and other technical businesses in the UK, it was set up to help fill a skills shortage and to ensure there’s a pipeline of skilled technicians and engineers for the future.

Successful applicants will be paid to undergo TMT’s fully funded four-week training course and those that have what it takes to pass, will get a guaranteed job as a Samsung technician with an attractive employment package, as well as exciting career progression opportunities.

TMT partner with Ecologi to help offset their carbon emissions. Their mission is to ‘Keep technology alive for longer,’ and these appointments would be a key part of that climate positive pledge.

The company founded in 2006 have also recently appointed Liam Seprini as their brand new Environmental and Sustainability Officer.  The 24-year-old will oversee bringing in even more environmentally sustainable practices to TMT First in a bid to become completely carbon neutral.

Company founder Adam Whitehouse said: “Liam’s appointment is integral to what we do as a business in terms of environmental sustainability, just as our new technicians will be. They will be helping us in our mission to: ‘Keep technology stay alive for longer.’ Instead of broken technology being destroyed or going to landfill – they will be repairing & refurbishing them to extending their working life.”

He added: “For these roles we’re not necessarily looking for experience, we’re looking for people with a great work ethic, a genuine interest in technology, a desire to learn new skills, a steady hand and keen eye for detail.

“Trainees would spend up to four weeks in our fully funded Training Academy, where a dedicated trainer will teach both the theory and practical elements of repairing Samsung mobile phones, watches, and tablets before they get to repair actual devices alongside our existing team of industry leading technicians. When they successfully graduate our repair academy, they’ll be guaranteed a job with us, with a chance to progress up through our business for those that work hard and are looking for a career progression. Many of our team today, who also came through the academy have already started rising up the ranks as they’ve grown in experience and confidence,” Adam added.

In 2021 TMT won four BusinessLive awards including the coveted Business of the Year Award.
